Get ready for a personalized inshore fishing adventure that's all about you and the fish. This full-day charter with Inshore Addictz Charters gives you Captain Shennen's undivided attention as you chase redfish, black drum, and whatever else is biting in these productive coastal waters. With just one angler on board, you'll get the kind of focused instruction and prime fishing spots that make for a day you'll talk about for years. Whether you're a seasoned angler looking to dial in your technique or someone who's still figuring out which end of the rod to hold, this trip adapts to your skill level and goals.
This isn't your typical crowded charter boat experience. With Captain Shennen running a dedicated 1-on-1 trip, you'll have the flexibility to fish at your own pace and really learn the ins and outs of inshore angling. The boat comes fully rigged and ready, with all the tackle and gear you'll need for the day. Captain Shennen knows these local waters like his own backyard, and he's constantly reading conditions to put you on fish. The extended full-day format means you're not rushed – there's time to work different spots, try various techniques, and really understand what makes these fish tick. Just remember to bring along some cash for live bait, as that's the one thing not covered in your trip cost.
Captain Shennen runs a versatile operation that matches the fishing technique to what the fish are doing that day. You'll likely work everything from bottom rigs when the drum are hugging structure to float rigs when the reds are cruising the shallows. Drifting is another key technique here – letting the current do the work while you cover water and stay in the strike zone. The captain provides all the rods, reels, and terminal tackle, so you don't need to worry about having the right setup. He'll walk you through each technique as conditions change throughout the day, explaining why certain presentations work better in different situations. It's hands-on learning that makes you a better angler, not just someone along for the ride.
"Our entire experience with Inshore Addictz Charters was outstanding from beginning to end. Captain Shennen went above and beyond to ensure every detail was in place for a day on the water. When we arrived at the dock, the boat was fueled, spotless, and fully stocked with live bait—everything ready to go. Captain Shennen was exceptionally friendly and engaging, especially with my 13-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter. He took the time to patiently teach them how to bait hooks, cast properly, and better understand the behavior of different fish species." - Anonymous
"Outstanding service! Captain knew the area like the back of his hand and gave us plenty of guidance and insight about the fish we were targeting. We had an awesome time and landed some big redfish!" - Anonymous
"Had an awesome day on the water with Inshore Addictz Charters. The weather was a bit chilly, but Captain Shennen Holtz knew exactly where to find quality fish. I even had the chance to help with tagging and data collection on a beautiful redfish. I would absolutely head out with them again!" - Anonymous
Redfish are the crown jewel of inshore fishing, and these waters hold some beauties. These copper-colored bruisers can range from slot-sized fish around 18-27 inches up to bull reds that'll test your drag system. Reds are most active during moving tides, especially around dawn and dusk. They're notorious for their hard initial run and stubborn fight once hooked. What makes them so exciting is their willingness to eat – they'll hit live bait, cut bait, and artificials with equal enthusiasm. You'll find them around oyster bars, grass flats, and channel edges, often in surprisingly shallow water.
Black Drum are the heavy-hitters of the inshore scene, and when you hook into a big one, you'll know it immediately. These bottom-dwellers can grow massive, with fish over 30 pounds not uncommon in these waters. They're most active during cooler months and love to hang around structure like pilings, jetties, and oyster reefs. Black drum have excellent hearing and will often respond to the sound of crabs and shrimp moving around the bottom. Their fight is more of a bulldogging, head-shaking affair compared to the redfish's initial run, but they're incredibly strong and will test your technique and patience.
Sea Trout, or speckled trout as locals call them, are the most abundant gamefish in these coastal waters. They're perfect for building confidence since they're willing biters and great table fare. Specks typically run 14-20 inches, though bigger fish are always possible. They prefer grass beds and sand holes, especially during warmer months. These fish have soft mouths, so steady pressure without jerking is key to landing them. They're also excellent indicators of water quality and bait presence – when you're marking trout, other species are usually nearby.
Southern Flounder are the ambush predators of the inshore world, lying buried in sand waiting for unsuspecting prey to swim by. These flatfish can be tricky to locate, but Captain Shennen knows the drop-offs, channel edges, and structure where they like to set up. Flounder fishing requires patience and the right presentation – they'll often pick up bait and swim with it before committing to swallowing it. When you hook a good flounder, they'll make a couple of strong runs before coming to the boat. They're also some of the best eating fish you'll find in these waters.

Black drum are the heavyweights of our inshore waters, commonly running 10-30 pounds with monsters over 50 showing up regularly. These bottom-dwellers love oyster beds, muddy flats, and structure in 3-15 feet of water. Spring is prime time when they school up for spawning - that's when you'll hear their distinctive drumming sounds underwater. They're bulldogs once hooked, using that broad tail and heavy body to test your drag system. The smaller ones under 15 pounds make excellent table fare with firm, white meat. What guests love most is the steady, powerful fight - no flashy jumps, just pure strength. Pro tip: fresh blue crab is hard to beat for bait, but here's the key - crack the shell and let that scent trail out. These fish hunt by smell, and once they lock onto your bait, hang on tight.

Redfish are the crown jewel of our inshore fishing, easily identified by their copper-bronze color and distinctive black spots near the tail. Most fish we catch run 20-30 inches, but we regularly see bulls over 35 inches that'll test your tackle. They love shallow flats, oyster reefs, and grass beds in 1-6 feet of water - sometimes so shallow their backs are showing. Year-round fishing is good, but fall brings the best action when they school up. What guests love is their power and determination - once hooked, they make long, bulldogging runs that'll get your heart pumping. They're also excellent table fare when kept in the slot. Here's my go-to technique: sight fishing with gold spoons or topwater plugs early morning. When you spot one tailing, cast well ahead and work the lure slowly past their nose. Patience pays off with these fish.

Speckled trout are the bread and butter of our inshore fishing, running 14-20 inches on average with trophy fish pushing 25+ inches. They love grass flats, oyster bars, and drop-offs in 2-8 feet of water. Spring through fall are your best bets, especially during moving tides when they're actively feeding on shrimp and small baitfish. What makes them popular is their willingness to hit both live bait and artificials, plus they're fantastic eating with tender, flaky white meat. They'll give you a good fight with several jumps and strong runs. The spotted pattern and that distinctive canine tooth make them easy to identify. Here's a local trick: during cooler months, look for them in deeper holes and channels where they school up. Use a popping cork with live shrimp about 18 inches below - the noise draws them in from a distance.

These masters of disguise are some of the most unique fish you'll target on our flats. Southern flounder typically run 15-18 inches, though we see plenty pushing 25+ inches in deeper channels. They're ambush predators that bury themselves in sandy bottoms and mud flats, waiting to strike at passing bait. Fall and winter months are prime time when they're actively feeding before moving offshore to spawn. What makes them special is that explosive strike from nowhere - one second your bait's drifting over empty bottom, next you're fighting a strong, determined fish. The meat is excellent eating with sweet, flaky white fillets. My tip: when drift fishing, let your bait settle completely and stay patient. When you feel that subtle tap-tap, count to three before setting the hook - they need time to fully commit.

When we arrived at the dock, the boat was fueled, spotless, and fully stocked with live bait—everything ready to go. Captain Shennen was exceptionally friendly and engaging, especially with my 13-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter. He took the time to patiently teach them how to bait hooks, cast properly, and better understand the behavior of different fish species. His ability to strike the perfect balance between instruction and encouragement stood out—he knew exactly when to guide them and when to let them learn independently. Unlike some charters where the captain handles everything, Captain Shennen made sure the kids were involved in every part of the fishing experience. His hands-on, educational approach was perfectly tailored to their age and interests. While fishing always comes with some unpredictability, Captain Shennen’s deep knowledge of the tides, wind patterns, and fish behavior kept us adaptable throughout the day. His expertise paid off—we ended up catching around 20 fish! We chose to release most of them, but kept a few, which Captain Shennen expertly cleaned and filleted for us to enjoy at home. Most importantly, the kids had an unforgettable time. The day was filled with excitement, learning, and plenty of smiles—creating memories we’ll cherish for a long time. If you’re looking for a professional, family-friendly inshore charter experience, I highly recommend Inshore Addictz Charters. Captain Shennen delivers a top-notch, personalized adventure that’s both fun and memorable.
